Fletchers' Phosphate

What is it?

An osmotic preparation available as a single dose enema containing 12.8g of sodium acid phosphate and 10.24g of sodium phosphate.

Medical Uses

Constipation, clearance of bowel before and after obstetrics surgery and before such procedures as sigmoidoscopy, radiological examination and proctoscopy.

Dosage

Adults, 1 enema as required; children over 3years, proportion of 1 enema according to body weight.

Special Care

Patients who require a restricted sodium intake.

Avoid Use

Children under 3 years, patients with conditions in which the absoptive capabilities of the colon are increased.
