Flexin Continus

What is it?

A NSAID available as continuous-release tablets of three strengths, all of which are capsule- shaped and marked with strength and 1C. Green, red andyellow tablets contain 25mg, 50mg and 75mg of indomethacin respectively. Usedfor: arthritic disorders of joints and skeleton including osteoarthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, rheumatoid arthritis, degenerative disease of the hip joint, other musculo-skeletal and back disorders which cause pain, dysmenorrhoea (period pain).

Dosage

Adults, 25-200mg each day in 1 or 2 divided doses taken with food, milk or antacid preparation.

Special Care

Elderly persons, patients with heart failure, liver or kidney disease, coagulation defects, disorders of the central nervous system. Those taking the drug long-term require careful monitoring and eye tests.

Avoid Use

Pregnancy, breast-feeding, allergy to aspirin or anti-inflammatory drug, stomach ulcer or previous gastro-intestinal lesions.

Possible Drug and Food Interactions

Corticosteroids, mifepristone, β-blockers, cardiac glycosides, quinolones, diuretics, cyclosporin, methotrexate, salicylates, lithium, probenecid, anticoagulants.

Known Side Effects

Rash, blood changes, effects on central nervous system, giddiness, visual disturbance, gastrointestinal intolerance, acute respiratory distress, corneal deposits, blood in urine. Drug should be discontinued if recurring headaches or gastro-intestinal bleeding occur.
