What is it?
An Antiviral Preparation Which Is A DNA Polymerise Inhibitor, Acting In Two Stages To Inhibit The Replication Of Cytomegalovirus In AIDS. Available As A Solution Containing 24mg Foscarnet Sodium Hexahydrate Per Ml, Produced As Bottles Of Isotonic Infusion.
Medical Uses
Life-Threatening Infections Of Viral Origin Particularly Those Of The Eyes In Patients With AIDS (Cytomegalovirus Retinitis). Also, For Infections Of Mucous Membranes And Skin Caused By Herpes Simplexvirus (HSV) In Immunocompromised Or AIDS Patients, Which Have Not Responded To Treatment With Aciclovir.

Special Care
Kidney Disease - Monitor Kidney Function And Also, Blood Levels Of Electrolytes, Before And During Treatment. Patients Should Be Well- Hydrated.
Avoid Use
Pregnancy, Breast-Feeding.
Possible Drug And Food Interactions
Pentamidine Givenintravenously, Other Kidney Toxicdrugs.
Known Side Effects
