Fucidin H
What is it?
An antibacterial agent and mildly potent corticosteroid. It is available as an ointment or cream containing 2% sodium fusidate (ointment) or 2% fusidic acid (cream) and 1% hydrocortisone.
Medical Uses
Dermatitis in which bacterial infection is likely to be present.
Dosage
Apply thinly 2 or 3 times each day to affected skin and reduce dose when condition improves.
Special Care
Should not be used on face or on children for more than 5 days. Should be stopped gradually.
Avoid Use
Prolonged or extensive use especially pregnant women or continual use as a preventative. Should not be used to treat acne, leg ulcers, scabies, pen-oral dermatitis, tuberculous skin conditions, skin disorders caused by viruses, ringworm, any untreated bacterial or fungal skin infections.
Known Side Effects
Thinning of skin, adrenal gland suppression, hair growth, Cushingoid type symptoms (as in Cushing's syndrome).
