Fungilin

What is it?

An antifungal preparation and polyene antibiotic, amphotericin, available as scored, light brown tablets containing 100mg of amphotericin marked SQUIBB 430. Also, FUNGILIN SUSPENSION coloured yellow and containing 100mg of amphotericin per ml of solution, supplied with dropper. Also, FUNGILIN LOZENGES coloured yellow, containing 10mg of amphotericin and marked SQUIBB 929.

Medical Uses

Candidiasis of the intestine and prevention of candidiasis of the skin and vagina (thrush). Lozenges and suspension are Also, used for mouth infections caused by Candida.

Dosage

Adults, intestinal infections, 1 to 2 tablets or 2ml suspension 4 times each day; mouth infections, lozenges, 1 dissolved slowly in mouth 4 to 8 times each day, continuing for 10 to 15 days. Adults, mouth infections, suspension, 1ml 4 times each day, applied directly onto lesion. Children, intestinal infections, suspension, 1ml 4 times each day. ; prevention in new born babies, 1ml each day. Mouth infections, suspension only, 1ml 4 times each day, directly onto lesion; prevention of infection in newborn babies, 1ml each day.

Known Side Effects

Gastro-intestinal upset if dose is high.
