Galfer
What is it?
A haematinic preparation available as green/red capsules containing 305mg of ferrous fumerate (equivalent to 100mg of iron). Also, GALFER SYRUP, a sugar-free, flavoured liquid containing 140mg of ferrous fumerate per 5ml. Also, GALFER FA, yellow/red capsules containing 350µg of folic acid and 305mg of ferrous fumerate, equivalent to 100mg of iron, all marked GALFER F. A.
Medical Uses
Galfer, Galfer syrup: deficiency of iron. Galfer RA: prevention of folic acid and iron deficiency in pregnant women.
Dosage
Adults, Galfer capsules and syrup, 1 capsule or 10ml once or twice each day taken just before a meal; children, 2.5 to 5ml in same way, once or twice each day. Galfer EA. pregnant women, 1 or 2 capsules taken before a meal each day.
Possible Drug and Food Interactions
Tetracyclines.
