Galpseud

What is it?

A sympathomimetic (mimics the stimulatory effects of structures by the sympathetic nervous system) preparation available as white tablets containing 60mg of pseudoephedrine hydrochloride. Also, GALPSEUD LINCTUS, a sugar- free liquid containing 30mg per 5ml of pseudoephedrine hydrochloride.

Medical Uses

Relief of congestion in the nose, sinuses and upper respiratory tract.

Dosage

Adults, 1 tablet 4 times each day or 10ml 3 times daily; children, linctus only; aged 2 to 6 years, 2.5ml; aged 6 to 12 years, 5ml; both 3 to 4 times each day. Children over 12 years, as adult.

Special Care

High blood pressure, raised pressure within eye, diabetes, enlarged prostate gland, overactive thyroid (hype rthyroidism).

Avoid Use

Children under 2 years.

Possible Drug and Food Interactions

Other sympathomimetics, furazolidone, MAOIs, appetite suppressant drugs, tricyclic antidepressants.

Known Side Effects

Dry mouth, raised heartbeat, stimulation of central nervous system, heart arrythmias.
