Gammagard S/D
What is it?
A preparation of human normal immunoglobulin available as freeze-dried powder comprising 0.5g, 2.5g, 5g and 10g in bottles with diluent, for reconstitution and injection.
Medical Uses
Guillain-Barre syndrome (a severe, often rapidly progressive syndrome of muscular weakness and paralysis, believed to be an auto- immune disease), Kawasaki syndrome (a disorder affecting lymph nodes in children and young adults), thrombocytopaenia purpera (a clotting disorder involving blood platelets). Also, replacement therapy in disorders involving deficiencies in the immunoglobulin, gamma globulin - agammaglobulinaernia (absence of gamma globulin), hypogammaglobulinaemia (low levels of gamma globulin in blood).
Dosage
Adults and children, consult manufacturer's instructions.
Special Care
Pregnancy, breastfeeding, patients with anti-igA antibodies in blood or selective igA deficiency. Patients must be closely monitored for possible symptoms of anaphylaxis while receiving infusion and countermeasures should be at hand.

Live vaccines.
Known Side Effects
Fever, sweating, headache, malaise, pains in back, anaphylaxis.
