Ganda
What is it?
An adrenergic neurone blocker with a sympathomimetic produced in the form of drops to reduce pressure within the eye. It is available in 2 strengths: GANDA '1 + 0.2' contains 1% gutinethidine mpnosulphate and 0.2% adrenaline.
Medical Uses
Glaucoma.
Dosage
Adults, 1 drop into eye once or twice each day.
Special Care
Examination of eye every 6 months for signs of damage to cornea and conjunctiva is required during long-term therapy; drops should be withdrawn if this occurs.
Avoid Use
Narrow angle glaucoma, aphakia (a condition in which all or part of the lens of the eye is absent, usually due to surgical removal of a cataract).
Possible Drug and Food Interactions
Maois.
Known Side Effects
Headache, discomfort in eye and superficial inflammation of cornea" skin reactions, melanosis (over-production of the pigment melanin), initial rise in pressure within eye, ptosis (drooping of upper eyelid). Rarely, other whole body (systernic) effects.
