What is it?

A hormonal preparation of a progestogen produced in ampoules for injection in 2 strengths, containing 25mg and 50mg progesterone per ml. Also, as 2ml ampoules containing 100mg progesterone.

Medical Uses

Abnormal uterine bleeding, maintenance of early pregnancy.

Dosage

Women, abnormal bleeding, 5 to 10mg each day by deep intramuscular injection into buttock for 5 to 10 days; treatment should be timed to finish 2 days before period is due to start. Pregnancy, 25 to 100mg by deep intramuscular injection twice each week. Or, 100mg each day from day 15 to week 8 to 16 of pregnancy.

Special Care

Migraine, epilepsy, diabetes.

Avoid Use

Breast cancer, history of thrombosis, liver disease, abnormal vaginal bleeding which is undiagnosed.
