Graneodin

What is it?

A broad-spectrum amino- glycoside antibiotic preparation available as an ointment containing 0.25% neomycin sulphate and 0.025% gramicidin.

Medical Uses

Minor bacterial infections of the skin and prevention of infection during minor surgery.

Dosage

Apply ointment to affected area 2, 3 or 4 times daily and evaluate after 1 week of treatment.

Special Care

Pregnancy, breastfeeding, dressings should not be used; if no improvement after 1 week, stop using and culture organism to identify.

Avoid Use

Persistent, more deep-rooted infections, large areas of damaged skin, infections caused by fungi or viruses. Do not use in outer ear if ear drum is perforated.

Known Side Effects

Toxic effects on kidneys, ototoxicity (toxic effects on 8th cranial nerve and organs of hearing and balance), sensitivity responses.
