Haemate P

What is it?

A preparation of freeze- dried human coagulation factor VIII, which has antihaemophilic factor activity of 500iu or 1000iu. Available in vials with diluent for reconstitution and injection.

Medical Uses

Deficiency of Factor VIII, von Willebrand's disease (inherited disorder caused by Factor VIII deficiency, characterised by abnormally slow clotting of blood, with bleeding from gums and nose bleeds).

Dosage

Adults and children consult manufacturer's instructions; delivered by intravenous infusion, dependent upon patient's weight, nature of haemorrhage and presence of inhibiting antibodies.

Special Care

Possible risk of transmission of viruses -HIV, Hepatitis B and C; risks/benefits should be evaluated before using. Patient should be monitored for appearance of inhibitor antibodies.

Known Side Effects

Allergic reactions - discontinue treatment.
