Halciderm

What is it?

A very potent topical steroid preparation available in the form of a cream containing 0.1% halcinonide.

Medical Uses

Inflammatory skin conditions responsive to steroids, including those of the outer ear.

Dosage

Apply to affected area 2 or, less commonly, 3 times each day.

Special Care

Should not be used for more than 5 days, short-term use only and a milder substitute should be tried as soon as possible. Do not dilute.

Avoid Use

Children, extensive or prolonged use, especially in pregnancy or as a preventative measure. Avoid use in patients with untreated bacterial or fungal infections, acne, leg ulcers, scabies, skin disease of tuberculous or viral origin, ringworm, dermatitis in area of mouth.

Known Side Effects

Adrenal gland suppression, skin thinning, abnormal hair growth, skin changes as in Cushing's syndrome.
