Human Anti-D Immunoglobulin S/D

What is it?

A preparation of human anti-D immunoglobulin available in 3 different strengths comprising 250iu, 500iu, or 2, 500iu per vial of solution.

Medical Uses

Rhesus 0 (D) incompatibility.

Dosage

Pregnant women, prevention of incompatibility, 500iu during weeks 28 and 34.At birth. 5001u given by slow intramuscular injection, with additional 125iu for every 1ml of foetal red cells over 4ml. Sensitising events during first 5 months of pregnancy, 250iu given by slow intramuscular injection when event occurs. Sensitising events during second half of pregnancy, 500iu by slow intramuscular injection when event occurs. Transfusion, 125iu perml of Rho (D) - incompatible trans fused blood, by slow intramuscular injection.

Special Care

Patients who have previously reacted to blood products or blood transfusions. Those with IgA antibodies.

Avoid Use

Children, coagulation disorders that rule out intramuscular injections, thrombocytopenia (a bleeding disorder caused by a marked reduction in blood platelets)
