Iodosorb

What is it?

An adsorbent and antibacterial available as a powder in sachets containing cadexomer iodine. Also, IODOSORB OINTMENT containing cadexomer iodine.

Medical Uses

Leg ulcers, bedsores and moist, exuding wounds.

Dosage

Adults, powder, apply a layer at least 3mm thick and cover with sterile dressing. Change when dressing is saturated. Ointment, (for chronic leg ulcers), as above, changing when dressing is saturated or 3 times each week. No more than 150g should be used in any 1 week and course of therapy should not exceed 3 months.

Special Care

Disorders of the thyroidgland, serious kidney impairment.

Avoid Use

Children, pregnancy, breast- feeding, patients with thyroid disorders (Grave's disease, Hashimoto's thyroiditis, non-toxic nodular goitre).

Possible Drug and Food Interactions

Mercury-based an tiseptics, lithium.
