Iopidine

What is it?

An eye solution which is an az-agonist available as a liquid containing 0.5% apraclonidine, as hydrochloride. Also, IOPIDINE PRESERVATIVE FREE, available as a preservative-free solution in single dose ampoules containing 1% apraclonidine. Usedfor: lopidine, short-term additional treatment of chronic glaucoma to delay the immediate need for laser treatment or surgery. Iopidine Presevative Free, control of rising pressure within the eye following surgery on the anterior segment.

Dosage

Adults, 1 drop directly into the eye(s), 3 times each day.

Special Care

Pregnancy, breastfeeding, liver or kidney disease. Intra-occular pressure must be carefully monitored.

Avoid Use

Children, previous serious or unstable heart or circulatory disease, soft contact lenses.

Possible Drug and Food Interactions

Maois, cardiac glycosides, anti-hypertensive drugs, clonidine, systemic sympathornimetic amines, TCADs, drugs depressing the central nervous system.

Known Side Effects

Dry mouth, allergic effects within the eye(s), disturbance of taste.
