What is it?

A compound diuretic preparation with thiazide-like activity and Also, potassium-sparing, available in the form of film-coated orange tablets, containing 50mg of chlorthalidone and 50mg of triamterene, scored on one side and marked A on the other.

Medical Uses

High blood pressure, fluid retention.

Dosage

Adults, hypertension, 1 tablet every morning increasing to 2 as single daily dose if required. Oedema, 1 tablet every morning increasing to 2 daily as single dose if condition has not improved after 7 days.

Special Care

Pregnancy, breast-feeding, liver or kidney disease or damage, diabetes, gout, acidosis.

Avoid Use

Patients with serious or worsening kidney failure, anuria (absence of urination), hyperkqlaemia (raised blood potassium levels).

Possible Drug and Food Interactions

Potassium-sparingdiuretics, potassium supplements, ACE inhibitors, lithium, antihypertensives, digitalis.

Known Side Effects

Sensitivity to light, cramps, skin rash, blood changes, gout.
