Kapake Insts 30/500
What is it?
A potent, compound analgesic preparation for use in hospitals containing 30mg of codeine phosphate and 500mg of paracetamol, available as an effervescent powder for dissolving in water. Also, KAPAKE INSTS 60/1000, a potent, compound analgesic preparation for hospital use containing 60mg of codeine phosphate and lg of paracetamol, available as an effervescent powder in sachets for dissolving in water. Also, KAPAKE TABLETS, a potent, compound analgesic preparation for hospital use, available in the form of scored, white oval tablets containing 500mg paracetamol and 30mg codeine phosphate, marked KAPAKE. Also, KAPAKE CAPSULES, white/red capsules containing 500mg of paracetamol and 30mg of codeine phospate.
Medical Uses
Severe pain.
Dosage
Adults, Kapake Insts 30/500, 1 or 2 sachets dissolved in 150ml of water every 4 hours to a maximum of 8 sachets each day; Kapake Insts 60/ 1000, 1 sachet dissolved in 150ml of water every 4 hours to a daily maximum of 4 sachets. Tablets or capsules, 1 or 2 every 4 hours, with a maximum of 8 in 24 hours.
Special Care
Elderly, kidney or liver disease, inflammation or obstruction of the bowel, enlargement of the prostate gland, Addisnn's disease, hypothyroidism.
Avoid Use
Children, pregnancy, breast- feeding, breathing difficulties, obstructive airways disease, raised pressure inside cranium, alcoholism.
Possible Drug and Food Interactions
Maois, central nervous system depressants.
Known Side Effects
Drug dependence and tolerance, dry mouth, dizziness, blurring of vision, constipation, nausea, sleepiness. Manuf~icturer: Galen.
