What is it?
An NSAID available as film- coated, scored white tablets containing 25mg of dexketoprofen, as trometamol.
Medical Uses
Pain in muscles and bones, toothache and dental pain, dysmenorrhoea (period pain).
Dosage
Adults, 12.5mg every 4 to 6 hours or 25mg every 8 hours. Daily maximum is 75mg. If pain is severe, dose should be taken half an hour before eating a meal.
Special Care
Elderly, mild kidney or liver disease, heart disorders, allergies, history of asthma, connective tissue disorders, SLE (Systemic Lupus Erythematosus - an autoimmune disorder of connective tissues).
Avoid Use
Children, pregnancy, breastfeeding, serious heart failure, moderate to serious kidney or liver disease, history of acid indigestion or recurrent stomach ulcer, active stomach ulcer, known allergy to NSAIDs or aspirin, bleeding in gut or other bleeding disorders, ulcerative colitis, Crohn's disease.
Possible Drug and Food Interactions
Other NSAIDs, tacrolimus, sulfonamides, ACE inhibitors, β-blockers, zidovudine, probenecid, anticoagulants, digoxin, diuretics, cyclosporin, antidiabetic agents taken by mouth, pentoxifiyline, anticoagulants, methotrexate, hydantoins, lithium, quinolones.
Known Side Effects
Headache, haematological changes, gastrointestinal intolerance, dizziness.
