Kogenate Bayer
What is it?
A preparation of recombinant human Factor VIII (rDNA/ bhk). Available as a powder in vials with diluent for reconstitution and injection, in 3 strengths, containing octogog alfa with nominal anti-haemophilic factor activities of 250iu, 500iu or 1000iu.
Medical Uses
Haemophilia A.
Dosage
Adults and children, 1 to 2ml per minute by slow intravenous infusion, according to severity of bleeding, body weight and presence of inhibitors. Manufacturer's instructions should be consulted.
Special Care
Pregnancy, breastfeeding, monitor blood for Factor VIII activity and inhibitors.
Avoid Use
Allergy to hamster or mouseproteins, Von Willebrand's disease.
Possible Drug and Food Interactions
Reactions at injection site, nausea, slight lowering of blood pressure, dizziness, tight feeling across chest, development if inhibitors. drug should be stopped immediately if allergic reactions occur.
