Lamisil
What is it?
An allylamine antifungal preparation available as white tablets containing 250mg of terbinafine as hdrochloride, marked LAMISIL. A1so LAMISIL CREAM, containing 1% terbinafine, as hydrochloride.
Medical Uses
Fungal infections of skin and nails. Cream is Also, used for yeast infections.
Dosage
Adults, ! tablet each day; for 2 to 6 weeks for athlete's foot; for 2 to 4 weeks for groin infection; for 4 weeks for body infection; for 6 to 12 weeks for nail infections. Cream, rub into affected area twice each day for 1 to 2 weeks.
Special Care
Pregnancy, breastfeeding, psoriasis, impaired kidney function.
Avoid Use
Children, liver disease.
Possible Drug and Food Interactions
Any drug affectingor reacting with cytochrome P450.
Known Side Effects
Headache, muscle and joint pain, allergic skin reaction, haematological effects, gastrointestinal upset. Discontinue if worsening skin rash occurs or in the event of liver dysfunction. Manufacturer. Novartis.
