What is it?

A loop diuretic and potassium supplement comprising 20mg of frusemide and 750mg of potassium chloride in a sustained release matrix, forming a white/yellow two-layered, film-coated tablet marked LK

Medical Uses

Fluid retention in which there is a need for a potassium supplement.

Dosage

Adults, 2 tablets each day at first, taken as one dose in the morning, increasing to 4 if necessary, in 2 divided doses, or reducing to 1 daily.

Special Care

Pregnancy, breastfeeding, diabetes, enlarged prostate or impaired urination, liver or kidney disease, gout.

Avoid Use

Children, Addison's disease, high blood potassium levels, pre-coma connected with cirrhosis of the liver.

Possible Drug and Food Interactions

Digitalis, lithium, NSAIDs, aminoglycosides, anti- hypertensives, cephalosporins, potassium-sparing diuretics.

Known Side Effects

Rash, gout, gastrointestinal upset. Discontinue if ulceration or obstruction of small bowel occurs.
