What is it?
An Isobutyric Acid Derivative For Lowering Of Lipids, Available As Capsules In Three Different Strengths: Yellow Capsules Contain 67mg Of Micronised Fenofibrate, Orange Capsules Contain 200mg Of Fenofibrate And Ivory/Orange Capsules Contain 267mg Of Fenofibrate.
Medical Uses
Certain Forms Of Hyperlipidaemia (High Levels Of Fat In The Blood), Categorised As Types H~A, Iib, III, IV, V, Resistant To The Influence Of Diet.
Dosage
Adults, 1x200mg Each Day At First, Taken With Food, Then 3x67mg In Divided Doses. If Hyperlipidaemia Is Very Severe, Ix267mg Should Be Taken Once Each Day With Food. Children, 1x67mg Capsule For Each 20kg Of Body Weight Each Day.
Special Care
Pancreatitis, Kidney Impairment. Liver Enzymes Require Monitoring.
Avoid Use
Severe Liver Or Kidney Disorder, Pregnancy, Lactation, Disease Of The Gall Bladder.
Possible Drug And Food Interactions
Statins, Anticoagulants, Fibrates, Cyclosporin.
Known Side Effects
Headache, Tiredness, Vertigo, Gastrointestinal Upsets, Gallstones, Rashes. In Rare Cases, Effects On Lungs, Baldness, Hepatitis, Disturbance Of Sexual Function. Drug Should Be Withdrawn In The Event Of Muscle Toxicity.
