M-M-R II

What is it?

A combined preparation of live attenuated virus available as a powder in single dose vials with diluent for in pre-prepared syringes. Contains at least 1000 TCIDso of measles virus, at least 20000 TCIDso of mumps virus and at least 1000 TCIDsu of rubella virus and 0.025mg of neomycin in each dose.

Medical Uses

Immunisation of children (and some adults) against measles, mumps and German measles

Dosage

Children aged over 12 months, 1 full dose of vaccine by subcutaneous or intramuscular injection.

Special Care

Infections and fevers, brain injury, known allergy to egg proteins.

Avoid Use

Pregnancy, women should avoid conception within 3 months of receiving vaccine, previous anaphylactoid-type allergic reactions to vaccine or to neomycin, lowered immunity. Should not be given within 4 weeks of receiving other live vaccine or within 12 weeks of receiving blood transfusion or immunoglobulin.

Known Side Effects

Fever, nausea, rash, malaise, reactions at injection site, short-lived joint pains.
