What is it?

A laxative preparation which is a bulking and stimulant agent, available as sugar-coated granules for adding to water containing 2.08g of plantago ovata seeds, 0.088g of ispaghula husks and 0.4 to 0.526g of senna pods per 5ml, when made up in solution.

Medical Uses

Constipation.

Dosage

Adults, 5 to 10ml taken at night with a further dose before breakfast, if necessary; in severe cases, 10ml every 6 hours for a maximum of 3 days. Children over 5 years, 5ml each day.

Avoid Use

Children under 5 years, obstruction of intestine.

Known Side Effects

Wind, bloating, diarrhoea.
