Meningitec

What is it?

A preparation of conjugated vaccine available as a suspension in vials comprising 10µg of meningococcal group C oligosaccharide per 0.5ml of suspension conjugated to Corynebacterium diphtheriae protein. Usedfor: immunisation against meningitis, Type C.

Dosage

Adults, 0.5ml by intramuscular injection; children aged 2 months to 1 year, 0.5ml by intramuscular injection with 2 further doses at intervals of at least 1 month; aged over 1 year, single 0.5ml dose given intramuscularly.

Avoid Use

Severe infections.

Possible Drug and Food Interactions

Immunosuppressant drugs.

Known Side Effects

Soreness at injection site, headache, feverishness, irritability, muscle pains, gastrointestinal upset, sleepiness. All adverse side effects should be reported to the Committee on the Safety of Medicines (CSM).
