Minims Cyclopentolate

What is it?

An anticholinergic eye preparation produced in the farm of preservative-free, single dose eyedrops of 2 strengths containing 0.5%i or 1% cyclopentolate hydrochloride.

Medical Uses

Mydriasis (dilation of the pupil of the eye by contraction of certain muscles in the iris) and cytoplegia (paralysis of the muscles of accommodation within the eye along with relaxation of the ciliary muscle). This is in order to allow ophthalmic procedures to be carried out.

Dosage

Adults and children (except newborn babies), 1 or 2 drops as needed; consult manufacturer's specifications.

Special Care

Patient with raised pressure within eye.

Avoid Use

Narrow angle glaucoma.
