Minims Phenylephrine

What is it?

A sympathomimetic preparation produced in the form of preservative-free, single dose eye drops in two strengths containing 2.5% or 10% phenylephrine hydrochloride.

Medical Uses

Mydriasis (dilation of the pupil of the eye due to contraction of muscles within the iris).

Dosage

Adults, 1 drop of either strength solution, as needed; children, 1 drop of 2.5% solution.

Avoid Use

Overactive thyroid gland, high blood pressure, disease of coronary arteries, narrow angle glaucoma, diabetes.

Possible Drug and Food Interactions

Tricyclic antidepres sants, β-blockers, MAOIs.
