Minims Pilocarpine
What is it?
A miotic preparation (one which causes contraction of the pupil) which is a cholinergic agonist and acts to cause constriction of the ciliary eye muscle. This helps to open drainage channels hence reducing pressure within the eye. It is produced as preservative-free, single dose eyedrops in 3 strengths containing 1%, 2% and 4% pilocarpine nitrate. Used for emergency treatment of glaucoma. To reverse the effect of weak mydriatic drugs.
Dosage
1 drop every 5 minutes until the pupil is contracted. Manuf ~cturer: Chauvin.
