Mobiflex
What is it?
An NSAID belonging to the oxicam group available as film-coated, pentagonal-shaped brown tablets containing 20mg tenoxicam marked MOBIFLEX Also, MOBIFLEX INJECTION available as powder in vials for reconstitution containing 20mg of tenoxicam.
Medical Uses
Rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, treatment of soft tissue injuries, (short-term only).
Dosage
Adults, 1 tablet each day; injection, 20mg by intravenous or intramuscular injection for first 1 or 2 days, then patient should be transferred to tablets. Elderly patients should be treated with lowest dose to be effective and monitored for bleeding in the gut during the first month of treatment.
Special Care
Elderly patients, those with liver, kidney or heart disease or heart failure, high blood pressure. Patients with heart disorders should be monitored if receiving long-term treatment.
Avoid Use
Children, pregnancy, inflammation of gastro-intestinal tract or bleeding, history of or active stomach ulcer, allergy to NSAID or aspirin.
Possible Drug and Food Interactions
Hypoglyciemics taken by mouth, antihypertensive drugs, lithium, anticoagulants, other NSAIDs, methotrexate, cardiac glycosides, corticosteroids, quinelones, mifepristone, diuretics.
Known Side Effects
Headache, blood changes, skin rash, gastre-intestinal upset, rise in level of liver enzymes, jaundice, haemolytic anaemia, aplastic anaemia, allergic responses, fluid retention, disturbance of vision, kidney toxicity. In rare cases, vasculitis (inflammation of veins), vesiculobullous reactions (eruption of fluid-filled blisters on skin or mucous membranes).
