Motilium

What is it?

An antidopaminergic preparation available as white, film-coated tablets containing 10mg of domperidone, marked with name. Also, MOTILIUM SUSPENSION, containing 1mg of domperidone per ml of solution. Also, MOTILIUM SUPPOSITORIES, containing 30mg of domperidone.

Medical Uses

Nausea and vomiting, indigestion (tablets).

Dosage

Adults, tablets, for indigestion, 10 to 20mg 2 or 3 times each day, taken before meals and at bedtime. For nausea and vomiting, 10 to 20mg as tablets or suspension or 1 or 2 suppositories, both every 4 to 8 hours. Children, for nausea and vomiting following cancer therapy only, 0.2 to 0.4mng per kg of body weight as suspension every 4 to 8 hours, or 1 to 4 suppositories each day, dose determined by body weight.

Avoid Use

Pregnancy.

Known Side Effects

Extrapyramidal reactions (characterized by involuntary reflex muscle movements and spasms), skin rash, raised levels of prolactin in blood.
