Mucodyne

What is it?

A mucolytic preparation available as a syrup containing 250mg carbocisteine per 5ml. Also, MUCODYNE CAPSULES, yellow capsules containing 375mg carbocisteine marked MUCODYNE 375. Also, MUCODYNE PAEDIATRIC, a syrup containing 125mg of carbocisteine per 56n1.

Medical Uses

Copious, thick mucus, glue ear in children.

Dosage

Adults, 750mg, 3 times each day at first, red uciIig to 500mg 3 times daily. Children, paediatric syrup, aged 2 to 5 years, 2.5 to 5ml, 4 times each day; aged 5 to 12 years, 10ml 3 times each day.

Special Care

Pregnancy, history of peptic ulcer.

Avoid Use

Children under 2 years, patients with stomach ulcer.

Known Side Effects

Gastro-intestinal upset, rash.
