What is it?

A prostaglandin preparation with transurethral delivery system in 4 strengths containing 125µg, 250µg, 500µg and 1000g of alprostadil.

Medical Uses

Diagnosis and treatment of erectile dysfunction.

Dosage

Adults, patient should urinate first before administration of drug; 250µg at first by intraurethral route, then increase or decrease dose according to response. Maximum is 2 doses in 24 hours and no more than 7 doses in 1 week.

Special Care

If erection persists after use for more than 4 hours, medical help should be obtained. If partner is pregnant, condom should be worn.

Avoid Use

Abnormality of penis, balanitis (inflammation and infection of penis), urethritis (inflammation of urethra), history of priapism (abnormal, persistent, painful erection), at risk of venous thrombosis, unstable heart and circulatory diseases, cerebrovascular disease, multiple myeloma (tumour in bone marrow), sickle cell anaemia, blood disorders (polycythaemia, thrombocythaemia).

Known Side Effects

Headache, dizziness, pain in penis and /or testicles, vein swelling, low blood pressure and associated symptoms, irritation of urethra, in rare cases, priapism.
