What is it?

A thiazide diuretic available as white scored tablets marked CIBA and AO, containing 0.5mg of cyclopenthiazide.

Medical Uses

Fluid retention, heart failure, high blood pressure.

Dosage

Adults, high blood pressure, coronary heart failure, 0.25 to 0.5mg each day to a maximum dose of 1mg. Fluid retention, up to 0.5mg each day. For children, contact the manufacturer.

Special Care

Elderly persons, pregnancy, breastfeeding, diabetes, liver cirrhosis, liver or kidney disease, SLE, gout. Electrolytes, glucose and fluids should be monitored.

Avoid Use

High blood calcium levels, Addison's disease, severe liver or kidney failure, sensitivity to sulfonamides.

Possible Drug and Food Interactions

Eorticosteroids, cardiac glycosides, lithium, carbenoxolone, tubncurarine, antidiabetic drugs, NSAIDs, opioids, barbiturates, alcohol.

Known Side Effects

Gastrointestinal upset, anorexia, blond changes, rash, sensitivity to light, dizziness, pancreutitis, metabolic and electrolyte upset, impotence.
