Navispare
What is it?
A thiazide and potassium- sparing diuretic, available as film- coated, yellow tablets marked CIBA and RC, containing 0.25mg of cyclophenthiazide and 2.5mg of amiloride.
Medical Uses
Mild to moderate high blood pressure.
Dosage
Adults, 1 or 2 tablets each day, taken in the morning.
Special Care
Pregnancy, breastfeeding, liver or kidney disease, diabetes, hyperlipidaemia (high blood lipid levels), gout, respiratory or metabolic acidosis.
Avoid Use
Children, severe kidney or liver failure, anuria (absence of urination), high blood calcium or potassium levels, Addison's disease, hyponatraemia (low blood sodium levels), high levels of uric acid in urine.
Possible Drug and Food Interactions
Ace inhibitors, other antihypertensives, lithium, digitalis, potassium supplements, potassium-sparing diuretics.
Known Side Effects
Blood changes, gout, gastrointestinal upset, fatigue, rash, sensitivity to light.
