Nootropil

What is it?

A GAGA analogue, available as scored, film-coated, white, oblong tablets containing 800 and 1200mg of piracetam, marked N. Also, NOOTROPIL SOLUTION, containing 333mg of piracetam per ml.

Medical Uses

Additional treatment for cortical myoclonus (sudden muscular spasms).

Dosage

Adults and children over 16 years, 7.2g each day at first, increasing, if needed, by 4.8g daily at 3 or 4 day intervals to a maximum of 20g per day in 2 or 3 divided doses.

Special Care

Elderly persons, kidney disease, Stop drug gradually.

Avoid Use

Pregnancy, breast-feeding, severe kidney or liver disorders.

Possible Drug and Food Interactions

Thyroid hormones.

Known Side Effects

Insomnia, sleepiness, nervousness, weight gain, depression, diarrhoea, rash, hyperactivity. Any adverse side effects should be reported to the Committee on the Safety of Medicines (CSM).
