Norimode
What is it?
An opiate and antidiarrhoeal drug, available as scored white tablets containing 2mg of loperamide hydrochloride marked T3.
Medical Uses
Diarrhoea.
Dosage
Adults, acute cases, 2 tablets to start then 1 after each loose stool (commonly 3 to 4 each day) for up to 5 days (maximum 8 each day); chronic cases, 2 to 4 tablets each day in divided doses. Children aged over 9 years 1 tablet 4 times each day for up to 5 days. Special cure: pregnancy, breastfeeding, liver disorders, acute dysentery, inflammatory bowel disease.
Avoid Use
Children aged under 9 years, acute ulcerative colitis, pseudomembranous colitis, ileus (obstruction of the intestine), distension of the abdomen.
Known Side Effects
Rashes, absence of peristalsis in the intestine (paralytic ileus), bloating, cramps in the abdomen.
