What is it?

A preparation of recombinant factor VIHa available as a powder in vials with diluent for reconstitution and injection, in 3 strenghts, containing 60 KIU, 120 KIU and 240 KIU of eptacog alfa.

Medical Uses

In patients with inhibitors to the coagulation factors in blood, FVIII and FIX, to treat episodes of bleeding and when surgery is being performed.

Dosage

For both adults and children, consult manufacturer's literature.

Special Care

Pregnancy, breastfeeding, patients at risk of thrombosis or other forms of coagulation, previous allergic reactions. For specialist use only.

Avoid Use

Hypersensitivity to mouse, hamster or beef protein.

Possible Drug and Food Interactions

Concentrates of pro- thrombin coagulation factors.

Known Side Effects

Bowel infections, fever, bleeding, rash, heart attack, pulmonary embolism, cerebrovascular events, ischaemia (decreased blood supply to organs and tissues), abnormalities of coagulation, thrombophlebitis.
