Nu-Seals Aspirin
What is it?
An antiplatelet preparation available as enteric-coated, white tablets containing 75mg and 300mg of aspirin, marked with strength.
Medical Uses
To thin the blood in patients who have experienced transient ischaemic attacks (TIAs) or who have unstable angina; prevention of a second heart attack, rheumatoid arthritis, pain, rheumatism.
Dosage
Adults, to thin blood, acute conditions, 2 tablets chewed each day reducing to a maintenance dose of 1 daily tablet. Rheumatic disorders, 300 to 900mg 3 to 4 times each day to a daily maximum of 8g.
Special Care
Pregnancy, acid indigestion, history of allergy to antiinflammatories or aspirin, previous bronchospasm, abnormal coagulation of blood. Patients with high blood pressure should be monitored.
Avoid Use
Children, breastfeeding, previous stomach ulcer or active ulcer, low prothrombin levels in blood, haemophilia.
Possible Drug and Food Interactions
Uricosuric agents, corticosteroids, coumarin anticoagulants, some anti-inflammatories, hypoglycaemic drugs, especially sulphonylureas, mnethotrexate, antacids, sodium valproate, sulfonamides, phenytoin, spironolactone.
Known Side Effects
Gastrointestinal intolerance, allergic responses, asthmatic reactions.
