Optimine

What is it?

An antihistamine/seratonin antagonist available as a syrup containing 0.5mg per 5ml of azatadine maleate.

Medical Uses

Hayfever, itching, insect stings and bites.

Dosage

Adults and children over 12 years, 10 to 20ml twice each day. Children, aged 1 to 6 years, 2.5ml twice each day; aged 6 to 12 years, 5 to 10ml twice daily.

Avoid Use

Children aged under 12 months, glaucoma, obstruction of intestine in pyloroduodensl region, enlarged prostate gland, glaucoma, retention of urine, stenosing stomach ulcer.

Possible Drug and Food Interactions

Depressants of central nervous system, MAO's, alcohol.

Known Side Effects

Anorexia or increased appetite, nausea, drowsiness, headaches, impairment of reactions, anticholinergic symptoms.
