Oruvail

What is it?

An NSAID which is a propionic acid available as capsules in 3 strengths all containing ketoprofen. Purple/pink, pink/pink and pink/white capsules contain 100mg, 150mg and 200mg respectively. All are continuous-release and marked with strength and name. Also, ORUVAIL INJECTION available as a solution in ampoules containing 50mg of ketoprofen per ml.

Medical Uses

Capsules, musculo-skeletal disorders including osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, joint disorders, ankylosing spondylitis, gout, pain following orthopaedic surgery, dysmenorrhoea (period pain).

Dosage

Adults, capsules, 100 to 200mg once each day with food; injection, 50 to 100mg every 4 hours by deep, intrarnuscular injection. Maximum dose for injection is 200mg each day for 3 days.

Special Care

Pregnancy, elderly, kidney disease.

Avoid Use

Children, known allergy to NSAID or aspirin, history of, or active stomach ulcer, asthma, serious kidney disease.

Possible Drug and Food Interactions

Hydantoins, anticoagulants, quinolones, high doses of methotrexate, sulfonamides.

Known Side Effects

Effects on central nervous system, gastrointestinal intolerance.
