Otosporin

What is it?

An antibiotic and corticosteroid preparation available as eardrops containing 10,000 units of polymyxin B sulphate, 3, 400 units of neomycin sulphate and 1% hydrocortisone.

Medical Uses

Infections and inflammation ofthe outer ear caused by bacteria.

Dosage

Adults and children, 3 drops into outer ear 3 to 4 times each day or, insert wick soaked with solution and leave in place for 24 to 48 hours, ensuring it stays moist. Use smaller dose for infants as advised by doctor.

Special Care

Elderly, kidney disease.

Avoid Use

Newborn babies, perforated ear drum, immediately before and after surgery, untreated viral, tubercular or fungal infections, long-term use in babies.
