What is it?

An analgesic opiate preparation which is a controlled drug available as scored, white tablets containing 5mg of dextromoramide and scored, peach tablets containing 10mg of dextrotnoramide.

Medical Uses

Severe, intractable pain.

Dosage

Adults, up to 5mg at first then adjusted according to response. Children, 80µg per kg of body weight at first, then adjusted according to need.

Special Care

Pregnancy, elderly, under-active thyroid gland, liver disorders.

Avoid Use

Women in labour, patients with obstructed airways and depression of respiration.

Possible Drug and Food Interactions

Cns depressants, MAOIs.

Known Side Effects

Sweating, nausea, dizziness, dependence and tolerance.
