Paramax

What is it?

An NSAID combining an analgesic and anti-emetic preparation available as scored, white tablets containing 500mg of paracetamol and 5mg of metoclopramide hydrochloride, marked PAI{AMAX. Also, PARAMAX SACHETS, effervescent powder with sane quantities of drugs.

Medical Uses

Migraine.

Dosage

Adults over 20 years, 2 tablets when attack starts followed by 2 every 4 hours up to maximum dose of 6 in 24 hours. Children aged 12 to 19 years, 1 tablet at start of attack to maximum dose of 3 in 24 hours.

Special Care

Pregnancy, breast-feeding, liver or kidney disorder, recent surgery to gastrointestinal tract, phaeochromocytoma (adrenal gland tumoiir).

Avoid Use

Children aged under 12 years, breast cancer which is prolactin-dependent.

Possible Drug and Food Interactions

Phenothiazines, anticholinergics, butyrophenones.

Known Side Effects

Drowsiness, raised blood levels of prolactin, diarrhoea, extrapyramidal reactions (characterized by reflex-type muscle movements and spasms).
