Pariet
What is it?
A proton pump inhibitor which inhibits secretion of gastric acid, available as enteric-coated tablets in 2 strengths containing 10mg and 20mg of rabeprazole sodium, marked E241 and E243, respectively.
Medical Uses
Ulcers, gastro-oesophageal re- flux disease (GORD), long-term treatment of GORD, in conjunction with antibiotics for elimination of H. pylori in stomach ulcer disease.
Dosage
Adults, for duodenal ulcer, 20mg once per day in the morning for 4 to 8 weeks; for gastric ulcer, 20mg once per day in the morning for 6 to 12 weeks; for CORD, 20mg once each day in the morning for 4 to 8 weeks. Long-term maintenance treatment of CORD, 10 or 20mg once each day. Symptoms of CORD, 10mg once each day for 1 month. Triple therapy with antibiotics to eliminate H. pylor, 20mg of Pariet, 500mg of clarithromycin, lg of amoxycillin, all twice each day for 1 week. Take Pariet tablet whole before eating food.
Special Care
Ensure there is no malignancy prior to treatment, severe liver disorder. Patients receiving long-term treatment must be monitored.
Avoid Use
Pregnancy, breastfeeding, children.
Possible Drug and Food Interactions
Digoxin, ketoeonazole.

Gastrointestinal upset, rash, headache, weakness.
