Piriton
What is it?
An antihistamine preparation of the arylalkylamine type available as scored, yellow tablets containing 4mg of chlorpheniramine maleate, all marked P. Also, PIRITON SYRUP, containing 2mg of chlorpheniramine maleate per 5ml.

Dosage
Adults and children over 12 years, 1 tablet every 4 to 6 hours to a maximum of 6 each day or 10ml, 4 to 6 hourly to a maximum of 60ml each day. Children, aged 6 to 12 years, 1/2 tablet every 4 to 6 hours to a maximum of 3 each day. Syrup, aged 1 to 2 years, 2.5ml twice each day; aged 2 to 5 years, 2.5ml every 4 to 6 hours to a maximum daily dose of 15ml; aged 6 to 12 years, 5ml every 4 to 6 hours to a daily maximum of 30ml.
Special Care
Pregnancy, breastfeeding, high blood pressure, raised intraocular pressure or BPH, asthma, liver disorder, thyrotoxieosis (toxicity of thyroid gland), epilepsy.
Possible Drug and Food Interactions
Maois, phenytoin, alcohol, depressants of central nervous system.
Known Side Effects
Impaired reactions, blurring of vision, sleepiness, dizziness, stimulation of central nervous system.
