What is it?

A selective 5-α reductase inhibitor available as film-coated, octagonal-shaped, brown tablets, marked P and PROPECIA, containing 1mg of finasteride. Usedfor: alopecia androgenetica (abnormal loss of hair connected with male hormones, androgens).

Dosage

Males only, 1 tablet each day for 3 to 6 months or continuously.

Special Care

Females should not handle tablets, especially if broken, as drug maybe absorbed through skin - poses risk in pregnancy.

Known Side Effects

Reduced libido, impotence, low volume of ejaculate, allergic reactions and nettle rash, enlargement of breasts and tenderness, pain in testicles. Any adverse side effects should be reported to the Committee on the Safety of Medicines (CSM). ,
