Propine
What is it?
A sympathomimetic preparation available as eyedrnps containing 0.1% dipivehin hydrochloride.
Medical Uses
High pressure within eye, open angle glaucoma.
Dosage
Adults, 1 drop into eye every 12 hours.
Special Care
Patients without whole or part of lens (aphakia) e. g. as in surgical removal of cataracts, narrow angle between iris and cornea of eye.
Avoid Use
Children, closed angle glau coma, wearing soft contact lenses.
Known Side Effects
Short-lived stinging, allergic responses, increased blood flow. In rare cases, raised blood pressure.
