Pulvinal Beclometasone

What is it?

A corticosteroid preparation available as a powder in 3 strengths for use with breath-actuated inhaler, containing 100, 200 and 400µg of beclomethasone diproprionate.

Medical Uses

Prevention of asthma.

Dosage

Adults, 200 to 400µg at first each day or 800 to 1600µg, if asthma is anything more than mild, with a daily maximum of 2000µg. Children, aged over 6 years, 100mg at first, 2 to 4 times each day according to response. The daily maximum is 400µg.

Special Care

Pregnancy, breastfeeding, pulmonary tuberculosis, Risk of suppression of adrenal glands with longterm treatment, Also, systemic steroid effects. Height of children should be monitored and systemic steroid maybe needed in event of surgery or stress.

Known Side Effects

Paradoxical bronchospasm, hoarseness, thrush infections in mouth and throat.
