Pulvinal Salbutamol

What is it?

A selective 02 agonist available as a powder for use with breath- actuated inhaler deveice, delivering 200µg of salbutamol per puff.

Medical Uses

Asthma, including prevention of exercise-induced asthma, reversible airways obstruction, bronchospasm.

Dosage

Adults and children over 6 years, 1 puff as needed to a maximum of 4 in 24 hours. Prevention, 1 puff 10 to 15 minutes before exercise or exposure to allergen.

Special Care

Pregnancy, severe heart and circulatory disease, over-active thyroid gland, high blood pressure, diabetes, phaeoehromocytoma (adrenal gland tumour).

Avoid Use

Children aged under 6 years.

Possible Drug and Food Interactions

Steroids, xanthines, cardiac glycosides, sympathomimetics, anaesthetics, β-blockers, diuretics.

Known Side Effects

Irritation of mouth and throat, headache, paradoxical bronchospasm, palpitations, trmor, allergic reactions, low blood potassium levels, muscular cramps, nervousness, dilation of peripheral blood vessels.
